Cascade Mountain

Cascade Mountain is easily one of the best ski resorts in all of Wisconsin, providing both beginners and advanced skiers with slopes for a perfect ski day. A resort that focuses more on skiing and snowboarding than anything else, Cascade Mountain is known for offering up beautiful runs amid an incredible landscape.

Kids under 12 Ski Free!

Seriously? Why not spend the day where your kids under 12 can ski free. Lesson’s aren’t too expensive and you can enjoy the day on the mountain, knowing our kids are in good hands. Cascade Mountain in made up of over 160 acres of skiable and snowboarding land. Snowboard friendly, Cascade Mountain has over 34 snowboarding runs to pair with the four different terrain parks at the resort. Skiers and snowboarders alike will find 10 different lifts to take them up to the top of this shallow, but hilly mountain. You’ll find four different terrain parks, a superpipe, and a halfpipe. Anyone looking to bang out some new tricks can get them in, as the park boasts over 15 rails and 10 jumps. Courses rotate regularly, giving everyone the change that they need to constantly challenge themselves. In addition, Cascade has an amazing sledding hill and charges by the day, instead of by the hour like most resorts. How awesome is that!?

Off the Slopes

Those who are looking to do a little more with their vacation will find snow tubing and ski/snowboard lessons at the resort. As far as dining is concerned, there are plenty of different options in the town of Portage. Some of the best places to eat in the area include Cimaroli’s, Blankenhaus, and Trails Lounge Supper Club. The Snow Shuttle Xpress goes back and forth from the mountain to several stops in town every hour from 9am to 10pm, seven days a week. The cost is $1.75 each way and stops are at Cascade, Hitching Post Restaurant, Best Western hotel, Walmart, Pierces Market, Culvers’ Restaurant, and the Chamber Mall. You can’t beat that!

Getting Here

This particular mountain could not be in a better location; located three hours away from Chicago, two hours away from Milwaukee, and half an hour away from Madison. Airports in all of these cities provide nearly direct access to the mountain OR take the AMTRAK to Portage! You won’t need a car with the Snow Shuttle Xpress. To drive, take I-90/94 to exit 106 from Chicago. Go west on Hwy 33 for a quarter mile then turn left on Cascade Mountain Road.
