Snow Summit is often overshadowed by its big brother resort, Big Bear, but it has the terrain, parks, amenities and grooming fleet to compete with the big resorts in California.
A Premier California Mountain Destination
Snow Summit is one of Southern California’s premier mountain destinations. Skiers and riders in pursuit of wide-open runs and picturesque alpine views flock here for a great resort experience. Snow Summit is also home to the famous Westridge Terrain Park, which has signature features top-to-bottom and a hefty team that maintains and shapes it nightly. The Family Park is the resort’s slow skiing and riding zone with low-intermediate terrain, and expands across five runs, including Skyline Creek and Sundown, designated Fun Zones offer small jumps, bumps and rollers. The Wall and Olympic runs serve up challenging, steep terrain for advanced skiers and riders, while Miracle Mile and Log Chute are cruisers ideal for intermediate level riders and skiers. Off the Slopes
There is a free inter-resort shuttle between Snow Summit and Big Bear that runs about every 15 minutes. Big Bear Mountain has the après ski bars that Snow Summit doesn’t, but Snow Summit has the night skiing and riding. There are a few places to dine at the resort including the View Haus, at the top of the mountain this casual, family-friendly restaurant offers spectacular views and healthy portions.
In part because of its location in a protected forest, Snow Summit does not offer slope-side lodging. However, there are myriad options for accommodations in the surrounding areas. From budget motels and hostels all the way to modern condominiums and luxurious vacation homes, the Big Bear Lake region has something to suit everyone.
Getting Here
From L.A., take I-10 east, to the Orange Street exit (Hwy 38). At the end of the ramp, go straight one block, turn left onto Orange Street. Turn right on East Lugonia Ave (Hwy 38). Hwy 38 turns left onto Big Bear Blvd. Then turns right at Greenway Drive). Stay straight on Big Bear Blvd, which is now Hwy 18. Stay on Big Bear Blvd, follow to Summit Blvd and turn left. Signs for Snow Summit will be visible.
