Snowbasin
Just a 40-minute drive northeast of Salt Lake City are three fabulous ski and snowboard areas: Snowbasin Resort, Powder Mountain Resort, and Wolf Mountain Resort. These ski and snowboard areas are tucked in the gorgeous Cache National Forest, nestled in a simply beautiful and stunning section of the Wasatch Mountain Range.
The Secret is Out
Snowbasin is one of the oldest ski areas in the United States. It hosted several events at the 2002 Winter Olympics. For over 60 years, Snowbasin was coveted mainly by those “in the know” and by local powder seekers. That changed when two incredibly tough courses were set on the now famous Wildflower and Grizzly ski runs. During the Olympics, viewers got a glimpse of the ski area’s impeccably groomed runs, steep chutes, high-alpine bowls, deep-powder glades, and spectacular scenery. Now visitors know Snowbasin offers Olympic-class skiing and snowboarding with a variety of terrain to suit all ability levels.
The resort has over 100 ski runs and more than 3,300 acres of natural and groomed trails. It really shines on two incredibly challenging downhill race courses. However, not all the runs are nearly as daunting. The terrain is greatly varied. Twenty percent of the runs are designed for novice skiers and snowboarders. Off the Slopes
This rapidly developing resort now is home to several lodges with breathtaking views, as well as numerous dining and shopping choices. Getting Here
Located 35 miles north of downtown Salt Lake City with easy access to downtown Ogden and Park City. Take I-15 north and exit to northbound US-89 (exit 324). Merge to I-84 east and exit at exit 92 for Mountain Green. Continue east on Old Highway and turn left on State Road 167. Turn left on State Road 226 for three miles to the resort.
